Like many people, music and dance have been a real constant in my life. My dad’s job meant we travelled a lot… we saw different cultures, different people… I was inspired by that.
As an All Black, he really showed me how hard you have to work to get to the top. I’m ready to work that hard. I know the details matter. My game’s different and I’m my own person but I share his drive.
Listening to music was a way to escape my immediate environment at times and it gave me a sense of people’s stories. Now that I’m writing my own songs with artists like Sonny Souther, I’m finding my own voice. I want my music to get a message across the world, let people know that everything will be ok.
My influences are pretty diverse…
My grandmothers introduced me to music early on. My mum’s mum was a country singer and I grew up watching her perform. My dad’s mum introduced me to Gospel singing which I still think is a huge blessing.
I see great elements in work by Kehlani, Jessie J, Beyonce, Adele, Lana Del Rey and others.
My own sound is a mix of jazzy blues and R&B… my dance blends Hip Hop, Jazz Ballet and Funk.
I’ve been performing since I was eight.
These days you’ll most likely catch me live at local venues and community events. Come, be entertained and feel the joy!

Meet Tiana So’oialo, singer songwriter.
First appearance, aged 8 years old. Travelled and performed with the Young Americans in Los Angeles, aged 8-12 years old. Wellington’s Xmas in the Park soloist, aged 10 years old.
Won the international LA Danceforce Directors’ Choice dance award, aged 12 years old. Wellington Cup, National Anthem soloist, aged 14 years old.
